Blaauwklippen – the name itself is almost a legend. Its literal translation is "blue cliffs" or "blue stone". However, it would be too easy to say that the name comes from the grey-blue colour of the granite cliffs. It is said that the stones that lie in its blue waters contain a mineral which gives the cliffs their colour.

These romantic surroundings provide the ideal backdrop for a variety of different experiences. Our greatest desire is to provide a true sense of hospitality to all our guests. Enjoy European and South African specialities in our charming Barouche Restaurant, or step into the past with a visit to our Carriage Museum or see the estate from a somewhat different perspective during a ride in one of our antique carriages. Blaauwklippen also offers a wonderful ambience for private parties as well as a tranquil setting for conferences or training functions.
