Our Wines
"The winemaker merely finishes what nature began." The people who work on our wine farm live according to this principle. They treat nature with the respect it deserves because they know what gifts nature has given them. That is why our wines are created in the vineyard and not in the cellar.
Based on the philosophy that a truly fine wine is created in the vineyard, we have developed a principle of minimal intervention in the cellar. We have been using only the natural yeast from the grapes since 2004. This is clearly evident in the taste of our three different wine selections: the Vineyard Selection, our premium red wines, the Cultivar Selection, which reflects the typical characteristics of each cultivar, and the fresh and fruity wines in the Landau Range.
Patience is the prime ingredient in our wines. We let time work in our favour, and we give our employees the freedom they need. In the end, it is people who create the wine, who give it its individuality and its characteristic taste. Try our wines and see for yourself. You will recognize our exquisite wines by the unique logo – a carriage – on their labels. This logo symbolises our tradition, elegance and the promise that every bottle of Blaauwklippen wine will offer you the highest level of quality possible.
Vineyard Selection:
This premium selection is created from only the highest quality grapes. These exclusive wines are handled with the greatest of care. They are first stored in large oak vats, and then they mature to perfection in small oak barrels. This gives these wines very gentle tannins and a fine complexity.
Cultivar Selection:
The wines in our Cultivar Selection reflect the typical characteristics of each cultivar. This is achieved as a result of the great care with which the grapes are handled. Only then can the true character of each variety unfold in the large oak vats and its gentle complexity emerge.
Landau Range:
The Landau Range comprises distinctively light and fruity wines that are ideal for everyday enjoyment. This delicious selection includes a fresh white wine, a fruity and mellow rose, a light red wine and an aromatic semi-sweet wine.
Noble Late Harvest:
Our Noble Late Harvest dessert wines neatly round off any meal with their sweet, full-bodied character. This is achieved by a long and rich over-ripeness of the grapes and the resulting high must weight. Because of the shrivelling of the berries, these wines have a high concentration of valuable compounds.
